Deborah Simmons is the author of 23 historical romances and novellas. A native Ohioan, she graduated cum laude from Wittenberg University in Springfield and was a journalist before turning to fiction. Her first book was published by Avon in 1989 and was followed by a number of Harlequin Historicals, including a USA Today Bestselling anthology. Her 2000 release, The Gentleman Thief, was a finalist in the Romance Writers of America's annual RITA competition, and her first single title was one of the launch books for Berkley's Sensation imprint.

Simmons has sold nearly two million books in North America, and her work has been translated and published in twenty foreign countries, with illustrated editions in Japan. She focuses on romance, with a dose of humor and mystery, as well. She writes both Regency romps and medievals, and has several related titles, including her popular series on the de Burgh family.
